STI Gives Back
WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 1, 2007– On September 14, 2007, Schreiber Translations Inc. sent out a large assortment of items to the troops stationed at Camp Bucca in Iraq. These materials included DVDs, games, CDs, athletic equipment, towels, books, magazines, soap, and hard candy. All of these items were collected since early July by STI staff. “Quite a few people really responded….we sent off five full boxes,” said STI Administrative Assistant, Jean Kim, who helped to coordinate this effort.
The idea for the initiative was presented when STI Chief Operating Officer (COO), Mit Shattuck, received an email from his former First Sergeant, Jim Benedict, whom Shattuck served with in Korea during his own period as an Officer with the US Army in 1994. Benedict was looking for a company to sponsor his unit and thought of Shattuck’s role with STI. Working for a federal contractor that already serves several branches of the US government and military, all at STI were thrilled to have another opportunity to support their country. “We discussed this idea with the STI Staff, and there was overwhelming interest to participate,” said COO, Mit Shattuck. “Our Staff has always had a Team Player mentality, so I was not surprised to see such a positive response when it comes to supporting our soldiers abroad.”
