Bosnian and Bosnian Translation
The Bosnian language is a South Slavic language spoken by Bosnian Muslims (also known as "Bosniaks"). Bosnian was previously grouped together with Serbian and Croatian as "Serbo-Croatian," and while the three languages are virtually identical, various political, religious and cultural issues have led to its being listed officially as its own language, such as in the Dayton Peace Accord. Persons who list their native tongue as "Bosnian" can be found in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, and Montenegro (collectively known as "the former Yugoslavia").
Bosnian is typically written using the Latin alphabet, although the Cyrillic alphabet was previously used, and is still used by a small number of Bosnian speakers.
