Gujarati and Gujarati Translation

This is the 26th most widely spoken native language in the world, with approximately 46 million speakers worldwide. It is an Indo-Aryan language descending from Sanskrit, and part of the greater Indo-European language family. Along with Sindhi, it is among the most western of the Indo-Aryan languages.

Gujarati is one of the 22 official languages and 14 regional languages of India. It is officially recognized in the Indian state of Gujarat. There are numerous dialects of Gujarati, some with many borrowings from Persian and Arabic, with others borrowing largely from Portuguese and English, or Hindi.

The Gujarati writing system is descended from the Devanagari script, differentiated by the loss of the characteristic horizontal line running above the letters, and by a small number of modifications in the remaining characters. It can also be written in the Arabic or Persian scripts, which is often done in the Kutch district of Gujarat.
