Indonesian and Indonesian Translation
This is the official language of Indonesia, a standardized form of the Malay language that was officially defined upon Indonesia's independence in 1945. There are presently about 250 million speakers of Indonesian, making it one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. Besides Indonesia, it is also spoken in Malaysia, Singapore, the southern Phillipines, southern Thailand, and East Timor.
Indonesian is often regarded as an "open language," being influenced heavily by Sanskrit, Chinese, Arabic, Dutch, and English. It is classified as a Malayo-Polynesian (or Austronesian) language, and modelled after Riau Malay, and form of Old Malay originally spoken in Northern Sumatra. It is mostly mutually intelligibile with the official Malyasian form of Malay, although there are some minor differences, particularly from the influences of Dutch and Javanese influences on vocabulary and pronunciation.
We can offer services from English to any language and from any language to English. If you do not see your language listed here, please contact Schreiber Translations for a personal assessment of your language project. We can help!
