Marshallese and Marshallese Translation

Marshallese is a Malayo-Polynesian language, spoken by approximately 44,000 people, mainly in the Marshall Islands. There are two main dialects of Marshallese: Râlik (Western) and Ratak (Eastern).

Marshallese is written using the Latin alphabet, with a number of distinctive diacritic combinations. One of the more unique features of written Marshallese is the highly variable spellings of the language. This is the result of different alphabetic spellings being used by Marshallese speakers depending on their religious affiliation, which is due to many schools being run by church groups. Therefore, those who have attended Catholic schools utilize different spellings than those who attended public schools (which then varies from island to island).

We can offer services from English to any language and from any language to English. If you do not see your language listed here, please contact Schreiber Translations for a personal assessment of your language project. We can help!
