Serbian and Serbian Translation
The Serbian language is a South Slavic language spoken in Serbia, Croatia, parts of Bosnia-Herzegovina, and the Serbian diaspora, which includes communities in Italy and Austria. The modern Serbian language derived from a combination of Church Slavonic and the vernacular language. Standard Serbian is based on the Štokavian dialect.
Serbian was previously grouped together with Croatian as "Serbo-Croatian," and while the languages (along with Bosnian) are virtually identical after the Communist Yugoslav government in the post-World War II era attempted to forge the two, they have since been separated.
Serbian is typically written using either a variation of the Latin alphabet, or a variation of the Cyrillic alphabet.
