Tigrinya and Tigrinya Translation
This is a Semitic language spoken by the Tigray-Tigrinya people of central Eritrea and in the Tigray region of Ethiopia. Tigrinya is the most widely spoken language in Eritrea, and the third most spoken language in Ethiopia, after Amharic and Oromo. There are approximately 6.7 million speakers of the language.
While dialects of Tigrinya differ phonetically, lexically, and grammatically; speakers apparently have no trouble understanding each other.
Tigrinya is written with the Ge'ez script, which was originally developed for the now extinct Ge'ez language. The Ge'ez script is an abugida, wherein each symbol represents a consonant + vowel syllable, and the symbols are organized into groups of similar symbols on the basis of both the consonant and the vowel.
