Zulu and Zulu Translation
With about 10 million speakers, this is the language of the Zulu people. The majority of Zulu's speakers live in South Africa, where it is one of the country's 11 official languages and spoken by 24% of the population. Zulu is a member of the South-eastern group of the Bantu languages (the Nguni group).
Like Xhosa, another indigenous language of South Africa, Zulu assimilated many sounds from the San and Khoi languages of the country's earliest inhabitants. This has resulted in the preservation of a number of distinctive click consonants in these two languages, despite the extinction of the San and Khoi languages.
